I was raised for the first part of my life, in a suburb with Polish and Italian immigrants, for the second part I was raised in sunny southern California with a high Mexican influence, and I, myself, am Polish and Middle Eastern. So my cooking style is a bit eclectic, I learned from the best when it comes to Polish sausage making, Italian pasta and sauce (from those in many regions of Italy) and my father owned a store that catered to the Mexican population so I learned a lot there as well. Keep in mind, this is not TexMex, this is true Mexican cuisine from Mexico.
I love to cook, and people seem to enjoy my healthy approach to their old standby's. It took a lot of work coming up with some of these recipes, but through trial and error, I am told I can make one heck of a healthy meal that doesn't make you feel like you are missing out. I hope you will feel the same way. I don't use salt, preservatives or anything unnatural in my food. When you eat a Miranda's Kitchen meal, no matter how decadent it might seem, it is still healthy for you.
Miranda's Best was founded out of a desire to ensure my baby was only eating pure, natural food. I would read the baby food labels, and it looked all well and good until I would hear articles about the manufacturing plants they were made in, and how the government allows so many rat hairs or poops per million etc. Ugh, I thought to myself. I can't let my baby eat that. So I made my first portion of baby food and she loved it. And to be honest, I had fun making it and satisfaction knowing that I was giving my daughter something wholesome and "animal product" free. I was so-called fortunate enough to be able to this because I had been laid off a while back and I know not everyone else is this "lucky" so I thought why not share my free time and let other babies enjoy the same wholesome, healthier option that Miranda does and thus Miranda's Best was born.
I have spent approximately the last twelve years working in the finance industry doing marketing for financial managers' that worked with very high net worth clients. As part of a layoff, I spent a lot of time at home and was able to really focus on my passion for cooking. Watching endless cooking shows (driving my family insane) and testing out all types of new styles of cooking, experimenting with new recipes and just really having a lot of fun with it.
With my educational background of a BS in Graphic Design and an MBA in Marketing and an MBA in Business Management, the idea of opening a business based around cooking and would encompass everything I loved, sounded like a gift from the heavens. The creative side of cooking and the strategic side of marketing along with the analytical side of managing a business, I couldn't ask for more. Cooking is my true passion - it is everything I love, all wrapped up in phyllo dough...sorry a little baking humor.
